Strabismus is an eye condition in which the eyes to not work together because one or both of the eyes drift to an incorrect position. This could be an inward, outward, upward or downward turn. This can cause double vision, blurry vision and /or poor depth perception.

In many cases, this is not a matter of inferior muscles, but how the brain controls the muscles. After surgery the eyes appear to be straight, the brain still doesn’t know how to properly team the eyes together binocularly. As a result, the brain will continue to suppress vision out of one eye.

At Pediatric & Adult Vision Care therapy is completed one-on-one with a therapist, under doctor supervision. State-of-the-art technology is incorporated into sessions making treatment a hands-on and interactive experience. Vision therapy is an effective alternative to strabismus surgery. Activities are specially designed to not only align the eyes cosmetically, but also improve binocular function. Tools such as lenses, filters, computer optics, and prisms are used to help develop proper eye control when treating Strabismus.
